Introducing

She Codes Next

The latest program to join the She Codes repertoire. Next is a one week, full time, tech taster program for young women or non-binary aged between 13 - 17. 

Designed to follow a similar structure as She Codes Flash, Next will also entail elements of finding your ‘why’ before diving into any technical content, with a mission to educate young people about their careers.

Program will run from Monday October 5th - Friday 9th October 

What is Next?

  • Free and fully funded scholarships, valued at $3200 per head
  • Specifically designed for young women or non-binary aged 13 - 17 years old
  • Full time over one week - 9am til 5pm
  • We've partnered with Purposeful to help the cohort explore there passions, with workshops to reinvented career pathways
  • Help women understand there are traditional and non-traditional career pathways
  • Small intimate cohort of 10 - 20
  • More than just coding! Inspiration speakers, working with others, building self confidence
  • Using a mix of Industry mentors and Uni Student mentors - for a wide range of experiences

What we cover..

Web Fundamentals

Build a website with  HTML/ CSS and Javascript to build a personal portfolio page. Understand the basics of web development i.e. how frontend and backend differentiate, HTTP and more

Hacking Hardware

The students walk away knowing what hardware is and a basic understanding of Micropython and how to use a dev board to program lights, messages, use an accelerometer etc.

What’s NEXT?

Reflect and refine on initial purpose map and exploration plan. Take the first step: define what is the one thing that you need to do next and collaborate with industry mentors and professionals to make it a reality!

Project Fun

Wrap it all together using everything we've taught this week to build your own project - A website, a robot, use your imagination.
