The She Codes Plus cohort in Brisbane experience life as a developer at Midnight Health through Immersion Day!

Last week, the She Codes Plus cohort in Brisbane visited the Midnight Health head office as a part of Immersion Day, to discover what a day in the life of a tech developer looks like at the company. Throughout the day, they were able to hear from various leads within the company and gain invaluable insights into what a typical day looks like for a junior developer. This experience provided the cohort with a glimpse into their potential future post-program and helped foster a deeper understanding of Midnight Health’s mission and company culture.

The day kicked off with the cohort enjoying a warm welcome from Bronwin Freke, Head of People & Culture at Midnight Health, before they settled in for a presentation, led by Nic Blair, Founder & CEO of Midnight Health. Nic shared the story of the company’s inspiring journey, from its humble beginnings to its remarkable growth. They were also introduced to the various platforms that Midnight Health has developed, such as ‘Youly’ for women, ‘Stagger’ for men, and their main platform, ‘Hub.health’.

Next, the cohort had the privilege of listening to short presentations from Colin McCririck, the Chief Technology Officer, Sarah Holdway, She Codes alum and Junior Developer, and Chenchen Li, Software Developer and Shirley Zhou, Quality Engineer who provided valuable insights into their roles and experience. These presentations shed light on the tech department’s structure, introducing the cohort to the tech stack used by Midnight Health and painting a vivid picture of what they’re life post-program could be.

Midnight Health prides itself on fostering an engaging culture that embraces diversity, and our involvement in sponsoring She Codes is a testament to our commitment. With two outstanding alumni, Sarah and Ling, who have seamlessly integrated into our Engineering team, we have witnessed the success of the program first hand.”

“We are passionate about sustaining this momentum and encouraging people from all backgrounds, particularly women, to enter the software engineering industry, and look forward to seeing more great candidates graduate and hopefully join Midnight Health.” Colin McCririck, Chief Technology Officer at Midnight Health shared.

As the day drew to a close, the cohort had the opportunity to network with the rest of the Midnight Health team over lunch, before ending the day with an engaging Q&A session featuring two of Midnight Health’s Software Developers.

We’d like to say a huge thank you to program partner Midnight Health, for sharing their company culture with the cohort during this Immersion Day. This collaboration not only grants our participants unparalleled opportunities for growth and learning but also reinforces our shared commitment to empowering women in tech.
