Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about our workshops, bootcamps, and community.
We are not! We are a solo company, operating only in Australia, with in-person programming. If you land on a different She Codes or women in tech organisation based overseas, that’s not us - but feel free to say hi! We do have plenty of friends in Australia including Women in Digital, Her Tech Circle, Women in Tech WA, Lyn Beazley Academy, and Girls Programming Network.
All of our programs are held in person. Coding is one thing, but knowing you’ve got a badass group of friends literally and figuratively cheering you on is something totally different. Our cohorts are very intentionally selected to ensure community is at the forefront.
We currently operate regularly in Perth, Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. All of our events are hosted in person, to get as much value from networking and meeting as many other EPIC humans as possible.
Occasionally we come out to the regions — having previously hosted events in Geraldton, Bunbury, Mandurah, Port Hedland, Broome, Karratha, Newman, Albany, Ipswich and Townsville.
Check out our events page on Humanitix. That’s the most up-to-date list of upcoming workshops and locations.
100% YES. We firmly believe that none of this work is possible without allies and advocates. You can help us by joining us as a mentor, telling your business about our work, or shouting from the rooftops about women in tech.
One of our values is that we are female focused, male friendly. Our workshops are designed for women, but if there are spare spaces we’re happy for you to join us — with one rule: you have to bring along a woman in your life.
We’ve had ages 7 to 80 join us at our one day workshop before. There is no age limit on potential.
In practical terms, most of our community are aged 25–50 who are interested in career changing or upskilling. We specialise in community building and training for early to mid career women.
We work with some AMAZING partners who truly believe in what we describe as a win-win-win partnership. We grow the talent pool of future junior developers, finding their next hire; you get an opportunity to learn (and eat cupcakes); and I get to keep doing this work that I love. Check out our partners and go give them some love!
A coding bootcamp is kinda like an exercise bootcamp except without the pushups, instructor yelling instructions and sweating. …Ok maybe its nothing like an exercise bootcamp.
Our bootcamp is an intensive way to learn in a hands on, practical environment. It’s certainly not for everyone - but we’ve made it as inclusive as possible. Our program is part time, outside of business hours, taught in a small cohort-based approach by industry mentors. We don’t currently have an active program, check back later for updates.
