Up Your Tech Game by Getting Involved in Upcoming Conferences & Events

To help the She Codes community stay up to date with what’s going on, we’ve put together a list of some upcoming tech events around Australia!

September
DDD
DDD is Perth’s largest community run conference for the tech community, and their annual conference is taking place on Saturday 10th September. Their goal is to create an approachable event that appeals to the whole community, especially people that don’t normally get to attend or speak at conferences.

We are thrilled to see so many speakers from our community on this year’s agenda, presenting on a huge range of topics. The following speakers from the She Codes community will be presenting at DDD this September:
Ricki Barnes – ‘Escaping the Vortex: Or How I Learned to Stop Procrastinating and Get Things Done’,
Macklin Hartley – ‘How Fast is Your Website Really?’,
Hayley Stewart – ‘Paying it Forward’,
Gab Martini – ‘How to Have a Kick Ass Mental Health Breakdown’,
Jia Keatnuxsuo – ‘Standing on the Shoulders of Giants- the Next Great Generation in Tech Needs you’ and
Mandy Michael – ‘Designing Inclusive Systems’.

This event is sold out, however we are lucky enough to have saved a few tickets for members of the She Codes community! Want to get your hands on them? Well, we have partnered with DDD to run a special Python workshop for young women, and have the opportunity for you to attend for free in exchange for some mentoring for a portion of the event. Contact us to find out how you can get involved if you are interested.

Women in Digital Awards 2022

If you’re located in Brisbane, come celebrate women in the tech industry by attending the Women in Digital Awards 2022. This monumental year marks the 5th annual awards ceremony and is due to take place on November 4th. Last year’s 2021 awards was a sold-out event which hosted 700+ guests, and this year is sure to be just as extravagant. Taking place at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre, everyone is welcome at this event including Women in Digital allies, digital & technology industry leaders, nominees and finalists, category judges and even those just looking for a fun night out. Participants at this event can expect a night with industry peers and dignitaries, a chef-crafted three-course meal, announcement of award winners, a flowing 5-hour drinks package, music performances by a live band and special guests.
Tickets are available HERE.

WITWA Tech+ Conference
Established in 1998, Women in Tech WA (WiTWA) started to form a network to support women who found themselves in heavily male-dominated industries. With a membership of over 5,000 people, WiTWA operates as a mission-driven not for profit network under the governance of a highly experienced group of women who are veritable champions for diversity and equality for women in tech in Western Australia.

The WiTWA Tech conference is taking place on November 17th, from 8am-5pm at Perth Convention Centre. The conference will allow attendees to listen to motivating and enthusiastic speakers who will take you on a full day journey and leave you in awe and wanting more. Conference themes for this year are based on ‘driving sustainable change’, including unconscious bias, securing our future, sustainability and tech, and thriving in challenging times.

Whilst tickets are not yet available for the WiTWA conference, awards are open for nominations. The WiTWA Tech [+] Awards celebrate the achievements of women and allies who are making an impact through technology. There is a wide selection of award categories, so if you want to nominate somebody for a WiTWA award, click HERE.
