She Codes is excited to have support from one of the best known brands in WA – Bankwest. Bankwest were one of our first partners when we were operating as Perth{web}Girls, and it’s great to have them back on board for the next year.
We see strong brand alignment with Bankwest, as we each have a commitment to supporting the local communities that we live and work in. Through this partnership with Bankwest, She Codes will be able to deliver more of our one day workshop events in Perth – which has taught over 6,000 women since inception.
“Technology is about solving customer problems digitally. Having a workforce from diverse backgrounds is more reflective of our customers, helps us to apply a customer centric lens as well as look at challenges from multiple perspectives to build the best technology.” Rebecca Mitchell, CIO of Bankwest shared with us when asked why diversity is important to her personally, and to Bankwest.
She also shared with us why she loves a career in tech “I have always loved working in technology. It is a very engaging job and you never get bored because technology is always advancing so rapidly. Working in tech also provides a level of flexibility, which I have come to appreciate as a busy Mum juggling the demands of an executive job, 2 young kids (and now a puppy too)!”
She Codes Founder Kate Kirwin says “It’s fantastic having Bankwest onboard as a partner. They’ve been really active in the tech community in Perth for a long time, and have lots of opportunities for our participants to engage in.”
Coming up on July 16th, we are hosting our third workshop for the year, bringing together over 100 women (and a few male mentors!) to learn and be inspired by tech. The event is currently sold out, but there is a waitlist, who are given early access to the next event in October.
“I’m so incredibly lucky that this is my job, and everyday I get to come to work and inspire women to find jobs they love, in an ever-changing field and industry that only continues to grow.” Kate Kirwin tells us. “With such low numbers of women in tech, it’s great to see the impact She Codes has in improving this number, and it really wouldn’t be possible without the continuous support of our partners like Bankwest.”
