A classic example of a win-win-win our goals for this partnership were really clear:
- Increase collaboration between the teams at CommBank and Telstra
- Upskill internal team members for the future of work
- Build a pipeline of future talent
- Support the communtity and give-back
Across 2025-26 we delivered 4 in-house sessions at Telstra in Melbourne, Bankwest in Perth and CommBank Foundry office in Sydney upskilling 245 women (supported by 43 incredible mentors). They also supported 7 public workshops nationally, featuring 394 learners and 90 mentors. And as a final flourish - two team members from Telstra and two from CommBank joined our Plus bootcamp in Sydney.
We interviewed a few folks from the Sydney bootcamp who shared “Seeing Telstra and CBA fund the She Codes program in Sydney makes me view both organisations as leaders who don’t just talk about inclusion and innovation, but actively invest in it. Supporting women as they transition into tech shows a long-term mindset: you’re building skills, confidence, and pathways into an industry that shapes Australia’s future. That kind of commitment signals values I deeply respect—equity, courage, and a genuine belief in people’s potential.”
“Having Telstra and CBA fund the program makes me feel very positive about both organisations. It shows a real commitment to women in tech and an understanding of the growing importance of coding skills in a fast-changing, AI-driven landscape. As a CBA employee for just over a year, and having previously worked at two other Big 4 banks, CBA stands out for actively encouraging learning, growth, and trying new things above all. That culture makes a real difference to me, how I feel about work as well as the attitude I have towards them as my employer.”
