That’s a wrap on the She Codes Plus program in Perth, with the final Showcase having taken place at FLUX on Tuesday 18th April. During the evening, the cohort were able to showcase their portfolio to friends, family, and hiring managers, as well as network with tech professionals.
She Codes Plus is a six-month tech program designed for women looking to enter or advance in the tech industry. It provides them with an alternative learning pathway to enter the industry, as well as mentorship and key connections needed to succeed.
Over the past six months, the Perth cohort have successfully learned and completed a range of projects, including website creation in HTML/CSS, manipulation of data with Python, and projects in Django and React JS. To learn more about our amazing Perth cohort, you can view their bios via our Showcase Booklet here.
When asked about the program, one participant said “It gives you such an insight into the industry. It really gives you so much technical information and connections. It has really changed my perspective in a good way and I’m so happy I did it. It makes you feel a part of a community which is SO important for someone being introduced into a new industry. I have friends now I can connect with in the future.”
When asked what made the biggest impact on their learning, another graduate noted “The skill and availability of lead mentors and mentors was absolutely phenomenal. I am amazed at the dedication and support offered by those who have jobs, families and lives to the She Codes ethos.” While another shared.
“Seeing how others in the class have transformed over the course has been such an inspiration and motivation for improving.”
We asked all 25 graduates to describe the tech industry in 3 words. Below are the results – exciting but challenging is the key takeaway!
A huge thank you to our program partners Cash Converters, the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, and Spacecubed for making this program possible.
Before we can announce what’s next for Perth, we still have a few partnership opportunities left to fill, so if you or your business is interested in helping foster emerging tech talent you can view our Partnership Brochure here or contact us directly via email at hello@shecodes.com.au.
