Sponsor Update from RAC

She Codes are excited to have support from not only one of Western Australia’s largest and most trusted organisations, but from one that is committed to supporting the WA community.

RAC has shown their continuous support over the recent years and are joining us as a gold partner for the next 3 years. Through their commitment to giving back for the better, RAC supports the She Codes team to help us run our free, 1 day workshops across Perth. In the last few years, our one day workshops have helped teach and inspire over 2,500 women, with some even going further to enter technical careers. RAC has played a large role in helping these women understand their passion, and are working alongside us to achieve our goal of supporting 100,000 women by 2025.

Carina McBurnie, RAC Sponsorship Manager, said RAC was proud to support the initiative.

“She Codes is an important program which offers women a bespoke opportunity to develop their skills in fast-changing technical areas, while also boosting their confidence and entrepreneurship,” Ms McBurnie said.

Meng Dunmow, She Codes mentor, shares her thoughts on the programs. “She Codes is such an amazing platform for women who are tech curious and want to try their hands at building something – whether that be a game, website or just their knowledge on web technologies. At the end of the day, it may not be to everyone’s taste – but I think it’s immensely important to be given the opportunity to try and that’s why I love mentoring at She Codes; the stories you hear from these amazing women, whatever their reason for attending – they all leave feeling pleased with having tried coding. This, in part, may be attributed to the learning environment being made so welcoming, and people feel a strong sense of comradery with their peers at the end of the day.”

She Codes Founder and Program Lead at Spacecubed, Kate Kirwin says “It’s fantastic having RAC on board as a gold partner. Through the support in the last year, and the years to come, the team at RAC have continuously shown their commitment to technology and innovation across Western Australia, and we’re so grateful to be a part of that.”

Coming up this weekend, we are hosting our third workshop for the year, which sold out in less than three hours, bringing together over 150 women to learn and be inspired by tech.

“I’m so incredibly lucky that this is my job, and every day I get to come to work and inspire women to find jobs they love, in an ever-changing field and industry that only continues to grow.” Kate Kirwin tells us. “With only 28% of technicals roles across Australia held by women, it’s great to see the impact She Codes has in improving this number, and it really wouldn’t be possible without the continuous support of our partners like RAC.”
